Intercultural training & team development
Intercultural differences often present major challenges in teamwork.
However, individual perspective and approach can amplify results with solid intercultural teamwork.
Intercultural training
What is it?
In 4 to 6 days, an intercultural team is put together, adopting common rules for cooperation. Communication develops organically, saving time and money. Certain parts of the classroom training can be replaced by e-learning units.
How does it work?
In a bi-national team, it’s best to carry out mono-cultural training first, for a more complete understanding of each other’s national culture. Here stereotypes can be explored to open up discussions. After a reasonable time – usually after 3 to 4 weeks – all team members are gathered together. Now they are not speaking to each other, but with each other. The team reflects on what they have learned and what common rules they have worked out for ideal future cooperation. This approach also works for multi-cultural teams.
If necessary – for example, if travel expenses are an issue – it is possible to replace the mono-cultural training with e-learning units.
