Steffen specialises on linking classroom training with the possibilities of online learning on a professional scale. He has been a member of the advisory board of AFS and a member of the Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research SIETAR Germany where he held several positions in the board. Therefore, Steffen is deeply involved in an extensive network of facilitators, trainers and coaches in the intercultural field.

Steffen holds a degree in International Business, Culture and Language Studies with a focus on Southeast Asia from Passau University/Germany and IKIP Bandung/Indonesia. He has been engaged in intercultural communication and cooperation since 1997. As a project manager Steffen was responsible for intercultural management and training at the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations, a German cultural institute under the supervision of the Federal Chancellery of the Republic of Germany.
